Mike Chawner is a passionate numbers guy. Is that an oxymoron? Not in Mike’s case.
Mike has almost two decades of experience serving clients across many industries. He has helped several small businesses get their accounting departments in order and flourish. He also has guided companies through venture capital funding, initial public offerings, due diligence, and first audit preparations. Not only has he helped entrepreneurs, he is one himself. In 2010 he founded an accounting firm focused on helping companies improve internal processes and financial reporting, reduce the monthly close cycle time, tackle complex accounting issues, and provide forensic accounting services.
Before that, Mike worked over ten years for a global accounting firm performing audits and due diligences. Most importantly, that company is where he met his current business partner, Brian Lang, who shares his passion for helping businesses grow through proper financial management.
In 1998, Mike received a BBA in Accounting from the University of Maryland at College Park. He holds memberships with the AICPA FVS Section and Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants and is a licensed CPA in both Texas and Maryland.
Mike is also a big believer in investing in the future generation’s success, as evidenced by his extensive volunteer involvement in both STEM and early childhood development and education organizations. He currently serves as the Board President of Trinity Child Development Center and was instrumental in getting the Austin Technology Council (ATC) Community Foundation established in 2012.
Outside of work and volunteer service, Mike enjoys spending time with his wife Karen and his daughters.
Mike Chawner’s Bottom Line: We like to see the changes in business owners: from frustration to control; from talking about what is not happening to what we can do next; from making financial decisions based on what some guy at a party told them to making decisions based on data; from a mess to order; and from stressed to relaxed.
